Opera, Art and Theatre in Zurich

Zurich is not only one of the most beautiful cities in Europe, it has also been listed as having the best quality of life for its residents and is one of the wealthiest cities in the world. In addition, it has a thriving and dynamic cultural atmosphere and has numerous art galleries, museums and performance venues throughout. The Swiss National Museum and the Kunsthaus are among some of the most prestigious museums in the city and are also distinguished among the rest of the country as well as throughout Europe.

Some of the main performance art establishments are among the most revered in Europe as well as throughout the world. They also constitute some of the most popular entertainment options for some of the guests tourists who visit Zurich. The Zurich Opera House continues to be one of the premiere opera houses in all of Europe. It has an interesting history and the building dates back to 1834 when it was the first permanent theatre building in the city. It was the primary center of Richard Wagner’s work and remains a prominent company. The Theater am Neumarkt is located in the Old City District and was established by the old guilds. It is one of the oldest theatres in the city. Every year the city hosts the Zurcher Theater Spektakel , which is one of the most important theatre festivals in the world.
