Skipping Visitor Insurance is a Bad Idea

The temptation is always strong to put off buying insurance. Few people want to fork over monthly premiums for something that they hope they will never have to use. As far as risk analysis goes, this is a major mistake — especially when they are contemplating traveling to foreign countries without purchasing adequate insurance coverage.

There are actually a number of different types of visitors insurance available. Most will be a combination of health insurance and what people think of as travel insurance. However, it is possible to purchase insurance that only provides medical coverage.

While most people think of themselves as invincible and not susceptible to illness or injury, the fact is that accidents and illnesses are just as likely to happen on vacation as at home and working in a foreign office is just as risky as going to a cubicle in the US. Anyone who gives it half a thought will realize that foreign countries are actually more dangerous. This is because there are different customs, foods, germs, and even traffic laws than most travelers are used to, which puts them at higher risk of catching something or being involved in an accident.

When it comes down to personal safety and security, visitors insurance is an essential part of any overseas trip.
