Everyone is a Filmmaker Now

movieIf you’re over a certain age you’ll remember that home movies used to be taken on large cameras and then shown on projectors setup in the living room. The image and sound quality were usually subpar, but the films were still treasured records of family events and history. Film was replaced by video tape in the 1980s, though the early video cameras were quite bulky and the quality of the resulting home movies were still clearly amateurish.

Fast forward to 2010 and it’s now possible to make high quality home movies with something as small as a cell phone. Today’s average Hd camera also comes with video editing software so that home movies can be edited to look like professional films — sometimes without having to upload the clips to a computer first. There are other great features available on modern cameras. These include the ability to easily upload filmed clips to social media sites like Facebook and YouTube or to share them through email.

Smaller cameras are very affordable. This is giving not only lovers of home movies the opportunity to capture everyday events, but budding filmmakers now have a leg up over filmmakers of the past. Amateur directors can easily shoot and edit high def short films and even feature-length films at a fraction of the cost of twenty or even ten years ago. In addition, the new generation of cameras is designed to be easy to use, so the learning curve for recording and editing is much smaller. People can literally buy a camera one day and have a finished short film ready to share online the next day.

Quantum Thinking, Virtual Demos, and Time

One of the things that does seem to characterize the human being is its remarkable adaptability . There are few species that have been able to adjust to great climatic changes over time. In terms of intellectual and psychological changes, the past few centuries have offered enormous challenges, along with some great advancements in culture. People live longer, and have more leisure time. For those who are inclined toward philosophy, this means that people have more time to contemplate what it means to be human .

It also means more time and headspace to integrate changes in the home, in relationships, and certainly in the workplace. The adjustments of the past decade from physical work places to online environments have been nothing less than extraordinary, and do seem to suggest a kind of quantum leap in thinking. In many cases, where organizations change so rapidly, there isn’t a lot of time to reflect on these changes, and people learn to go with the flow.

It’s sometimes necessary to simply give over to the moment and plunge ahead with the shifts. New technologies can be mastered very quickly, with the aid of a virtual software demo , where vast amounts of information can be shared. This allows the organizations to choose the technologies that are right for them with knowledge and understanding before making changes. And the workplace seems very adaptable to these changes once they’re in place.

Everyone wants to jump into the hot game of video sharing. At one time we had to wait for the latest episode of America’s Funniest Home Videos to see all of the crazy things that people have captured on their camcorders. Now, all one has to do is get their latest hit onto YouTube and you never know, they just may become a star.

If you want to make a real splash with your homespun videos you’re going to need a few things. Getting a great video camera is a good start. However, there are also some smart phones out there that also have the capacity to take some pretty good footage. Then there are some of the optional things like a good lighting setup if you’re working in darker spaces. Once you have captured some usable footage you’re going to need to get it edited.

To edit your project you’re going to need some software. This will allow you to cut out the footage you don’t want in your video and keep the scenes you do want in the video. If you end up shooting your movie in different sections out of order, you will be able to cut them into the right order. When you have the video finished, the Video Converter inside the software will help you save it to the right format and then copy it onto a DVD for sharing. All of it together makes your video project real.
